    Worse than expected

Since this film was directed by Ethan Coen, and the story was from a screenplay that he co-wrote with his wife Tricia Cooke (also the film’s editor) I expected it to be much better than it actually was.Margaret Qualley is as wonderful as always, but even she wasn’t very convincing.PLEAE NOTE: films that feature lesbian characters should not be made by straight men.If you wanna make a lesbo film, then hire a few lesbians to write the script! Those who cannot see who we actually are, and base their writing on nothing more than their own perception of who they think we are, need to include womyn in the making of these films. They will be far better, further reaching and attract a wider audience of those of us who would actually appreciate a more thoughtfully made film (rather than to see ourselves portrayed as yet another sensational, novelty act).

Hilarious Lesbian satiric, romantic, slapstick comedy

Hilarious lesbian exploitation romantic comedy but not for the politically correct or homophobe bluenoses. Take it for what it is, a slapstick farce and satire and you’ll have a great time, gay, straight or whatever. Love the Matt Damon cameo. Hated the 70s swirly color thing they used to do when trying to get an X-rated movie an R. Most won’t get the joke and I probably don’t blame them. But, I loved it. Four stars (well maybe three and three quarters). They should have kept the original scree-play title Drive-Away Dykes. I would have given another quarter star for that.

    Ugh – why…?!

I thought I was going to be watching a Coen Brothers film, but 90 seconds in, it’s obviously NOT a Coen BrotherS film. Only one of the brothers is involved (Ethan), along with his wife (Tricia Cooke). Of course it takes much much more than good actors to make a good film – and in this case, no one could prop up such poor writing and directing. The lesbian caricatures and cartoonish scenes had me feeling sorry for the actors who signed on, probably thinking that this was going to be as good as a Coen BrotherS film…It made me wonder if Frances McDormand was ever consulted on the project – because you know SHE’s smart enough to know when to rewrite a line, or a scene, or an entire script. It sucks to feel insulted by a story – I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s when most ALL roles were written by middle class white men (roles for women, homosexuals, Native Americans, Africans, African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, etc, etc,) – and I almost never saw a girl’s or woman’s role in a film or TV show that I could relate to because no one cared to actually take time to portray a real female. This film feels like that – it’s a story about an idea, written by people who haven’t lived it, their imaginations are limited, and it simply doesn’t ring true so it falls flat. With any story, with any drama, and especially with comedy – if you want a laugh, it must be rooted in truth. The strongest feeling this film left me with was feeling insulted that someone thinks they can sell me such hollow stereotypes. It’s not funny.

    Get Ready to Laugh

Coen Brother films are just a joy. This ones on the campy side, but that’s the way it’s supposed to feel. The Coen Brothers new film “Honey Don’t!” is a 2025 American neo-noir dark comedy detective film.

    not very good

Not worth writing a review about this due to the terrible script and constant scene changes. The actors were entertaining enough to watch, but the movie itself was bad. Definitely poses as a lesbian movie, BUT for the male gaze and with appearances by Miley Cyrus (in those scene changes – LSD addled flashbacks) made those scenes nothing more than boring cameos. This was not a “pro-feminist/lesbian film” as one reviewer that gave this 5 stars tried to pass it off as. The plot that centers around what’s in the secret briefcase is really bottom humor and was a disappointment. Spoiler alert: The two leads getting together at the end was just lazy writing.

    Modernly amusing, but rather slapdash

This is not a bad film, but it’s not a good one, either. It’s a pastiche of different ideas and scenes that can be amusing, but don’t add up to a consistent story. It’s enjoyable, but not at all memorable.

One of the best make out films I’ve seen

So, not only was the acting perfect, but it was truly fun to watch. From start to end, just a fun film all around. The characters will alive and rich, and the situations and dialog were great. The story itself was simple, but the portrayals were what made it worth watching (oh yeah, and the make out sessions were also really hot…) I hope to see more like this from the cast and director. I would likely watch this again (every two years or so…) My “Archer Grade” on this would be a solid 9, based on jiggle and fun “O scenes” alone : ) Thank you all for making Nov 2024 bearable. Now, back to Dan Da Dan (as soon as the next episode comes out!!!)

Cute movie, just gotta get past the ‘psychadelics’.

Not sure what purpose the ‘psychedlic’ interludes served except to take up some time in the movie – it got so I just fast-forwarded through those parts, but the rest of the movie was palatable and even amusing at times.

    Ugh

Don’t get suckered in with it being a Coen film or the brief Pedro cameo. As an avid fan of Coen brothers movies this one fell way short. Painful to watch. Kept thinking it’s maybe get better but the campiness of it was just exhausting. It wasn’t witty or funny.
