Disc was corrupted. Returned to Amazon.
Returned this Bluray. The disc was corrupted. There was a glitch in the video at 1:41:28 and the movie would freeze for a couple of seconds, and then jump forward and continue playing. When the image was frozen, there is a line of pixels going across the screen. I checked the desk and it wasn’t dirty or scratched. There’s nothing visibly wrong with the disc but it kept freezing at the same time index.

Spielberg’s Film Noir Masterpiece
Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report is one of his greatest films. It is a triumph of story and storytelling, a dark and futuristic film noir that is both wildly entertaining and satisfyingly thoughtful. Tom Cruise gives one of his very best performances to date as a “pre-crime” cop on the run. Roger Ebert named this the best film of 2002 and with good reason. Minority Report is essential viewing. I couldn’t be more excited about its release on Blu-ray. Let’s just pray we get the amazing image quality on this disc that the original film displayed.

Awesome
I actually saw this movie for the first time in theaters many years ago when I was about 15. This movie blew me away in the theaters. So much so that I went back 2 or 3 more times just to see it. Bourne Identity was in the theaters at the same time and this was by far the better feature to pay to see.All these years later and it is still a great movie. Just makes me feel good every time I see that opening scene with John working that computer and going to prevent the first murder. Brings back memories of being a kid while still being an amazing movie.Well worth the money to see this movie whenever I want. It is a must own up there with Good Will Hunting, in that it deserves a spot on your movie shelf.

A Very Stylistic Film – AND Tom Cruise!
If you are a sci-fi nut like me, then you’ll like Minority Report, specifically this Blu ray version.Blu ray is made for watching sci-fi and fantasy movies, where the CGI effects really shine through, and for a movie that’s already a handful of years old (which is a long time in Hollywood), it’s still holding very well with more recent and better tech sci-fi movies out there. Some of the CGI, like the green house scene, are pretty lame to the trained eye, but for the most part it’s a very well made and exciting movie.Especially if you’re a Tom Cruise fan, you should definitely get this (my 2 other Cruise favorites being “Vanilla Sky” and “Mission Impossible 2” – “Tropic Thunder was probably his finest role lol but he wasn’t a lead so it doesn’t count).

Superior blu-ray experience
This is a review of the BD version of the film. I am sure most reading know the atory, so I won’t get into all of that, though it must be said it is a chliing. exciting, and brilliant vision of the future down to its details. I have seen a couple of reviews that note the issue of “grain” on the image. Here’s the deal with that…the grain is supposed to be there. The most common misconception about bluray is that it offers a more enhanced and retouched version of a film. High Definition lets you see the film as it was intended by the filmmakers. Mostb SD DVD has been treated with something called Digital Noise Reduction (DNR). This wipes the image so that it is smooth and waxy. It also distorts the colors, textures, and the original artistic vision. Bluray provides deeper colors, blacks, eliminates edge enhancement, halos, and other issues. Minority Report is intended and was shot to have a gritty feel, hence the grain. This is how the film is supposed to look. It has a kind of washed out, skip bleached look with lots of swirling film grain. This creates an emotional impact that informs the story and the characters. This movie looks fabulous. The grain renders the fine details and textures much harder to see in 480i. 1080p allows us to see it as it looked in the editing bay. Colors are fully accurate and resolved. Blacks are inky and detail is gorgeous, making the special effects all the more dazzling. This transfer was closely supervised and approved by Spielberg. It is the best this film will ever look and the HD DTS soundtrack is tight, robust and exciting. This is one of the films I have been waiting to see in this format and it exceeded my expectations.

Gripping, thought-provoking science fiction
Loosely based on a story by Philip K. Dick (as many great sci-fi movies have been), “Minority Report” is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. With excellent direction and visuals by Steven Spielberg along with great acting by Tom Cruise, Samantha Morton, and others, it’s an enjoyable movie for all. The story provides some interesting questions about life on a basic level, as well as what direction technology is headed.Cruise plays Chief John Anderton, the head of a new pre-crime police unit in Washington DC in 2054. They are an experimental unit which arrests people based on crimes which they “will” perpetrate, as opposed to ones that they have done. They have three special individuals called pre-cogs who have visions of crimes that have not occurred yet. Based on these visions, the police arrest the people before they have a chance to commit the crimes. This raises the question – can we change the future or is it all pre-determined? It’s the old question of predestination vs. free will, but played out in a rather fascinating and different way. If we can read people’s thoughts (like some practical science is getting closer and closer to) or predict their future, how much can we really act on it?Anderton believes strongly in the system and defends it to Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell), who is sent by the government to investigate the unit before pre-crime goes national. Witwer digs up dirt on Anderton, discovering that he’s into some illegal drugs, likely as a result of the disappearance of his son years ago. Things get truly complicated for Anderton when the pre-cogs have a vision of him killing someone who he doesn’t even know. He is forced to run and work on his own in order to clear his name. Can he prevent the vision from becoming reality? Is it possible that the vision is wrong? Why would he kill someone he doesn’t even know?I find this movie enjoyable even on subsequent viewings, though naturally there are some twists which are best during the first viewing. Still, the acting is great and the effects are stunning at times. There are chases which get you on the edge of your seat. It is an entertaining mix of action, science fiction, and crime drama. I highly recommend this movie to anyone interested at all in any of those genres.

“Imagine a world without murder” – Brilliant and Exhilarating…
In 2054, the Precrime department, led by John Anderton (Tom Cruise), is able to predict murder before it occurs using three psychics called “precogs” with superb results. Eventually, Anderton is suspected of future murder and he races to clear his name and find the person he believes set him up; but, what if the precogs were correct?. Minority Report is a brilliant and exhilarating SciFi film.Minority Report has an amazing concept and engaging storytelling; it balances the science, the mystery, and the action almost flawlessly. The story moves at a great pace, which kept me glued to my seat. The chase scenes in this film are also great, especially the jetpack scene. The futuristic setting is also immersive and often stunning. Most of the special effects still hold up today, despite being 10 years old. The acting was also amazing; I enjoyed watching Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell. The music in this film matched the atmosphere and I loved it; it had a “Star Wars”/SciFi vibe and positively added to the film.I own the two disc blu-ray. The first disc of this blu-ray only has the film. The second disc holds all of the special features. This does not come with a DVD or a digital copy. The quality of this film is amazing; the picture quality is a stunning update from the DVD and allows it to compete with recent films; the sound quality is also crisp. Definitely a film worth owning in HD.Overall, Minority Report is an immersive, exhilarating, and ultimately brilliant film; despite it’s 2 hr 20 min runtime, this film rarely has a dull moment. I highly recommend a purchase, especially the high quality Blu-ray version. Minority Report has violence and blood. No sex or nudity.
