100 Nights of Hero (2025) is a historical fantasy romance film directed and written by Julia Jackman, based on the graphic novel The One Hundred Nights of Hero by Isabel Greenberg, which itself draws inspiration from the classic Middle Eastern folktale, One Thousand and One Nights. Set in the fantastical, patriarchal world of Darkly End, the plot centers on the young bride Cherry (Maika Monroe) who is unhappily married to the neglectful Jerome (Amir El-Masry). Facing pressure from a punitive government to produce an heir, Jerome makes a secret wager with his seductive friend, Manfred (Nicholas Galitzine), that Manfred cannot seduce Cherry during the one hundred days Jerome is away. Complicating Manfred's pursuit is Cherry's loyal and sharp-witted maid and best friend, Hero (Emma Corrin), who senses Cherry's discomfort and, in an echo of Scheherazade, devises a plan to fend off the suitor by telling him elaborate, subversive stories each night. The film explores themes of female friendship, lesbian romance, and the transformative power of storytelling as Hero and Cherry's bond deepens into a forbidden love amidst the danger and the oppressive, anti-woman society ruled by the god Birdman (Richard E. Grant). The ensemble cast also includes Charli xcx and Felicity Jones.
