Frontier Crucible is a 2025 American Western thriller directed by Travis Mills and released by Well Go USA Entertainment on December 5, 2025. The film is based on the 1961 novel Desert Stake-Out by Harry Whittington, and the screenplay is credited to Whittington, though star Thomas Jane has indicated that S. Craig Zahler was the uncredited writer. Set in 1870s Arizona Territory, the plot centers on Merrick Beckford (Myles Clohessy), a former soldier with a haunted past, who is tasked with guiding a wagon full of desperately needed medical supplies through hostile Apache territory. To complete this perilous mission, Beckford is forced into a tense, uneasy alliance with a trio of dangerous outlaws: Mule (Thomas Jane), his impulsive son Billy (Ryan Masson), and the ruthless Edmund (Armie Hammer). Their desperate journey becomes even more complicated and deadly when they accidentally kill an Apache scout, turning the mission into a brutal game of survival against both the unforgiving elements and the vengeful Apache tribe. The ensemble cast also features Mary Stickley as Valerie, a woman whose wounded husband (Eli Brown) is also traveling with the group, and William H. Macy in an appearance as a military officer.
