A.J. Buckley

Alan John "A.J." Buckley is an Irish-Canadian actor, producer, and writer, born on February 9, 1977, in Dublin, Ireland, who emigrated with his family to White Rock, British Columbia, Canada, at the age of six. Despite being diagnosed with dyslexia, he began his acting career in his teens, landing roles on Canadian television series like The Odyssey and guest-starring in major American shows like The X-Files and Millennium. His career took off after his breakout film role in the 1998 thriller Disturbing Behavior, which led him to move to Los Angeles. Buckley is most widely known for his two long-running television roles: playing the quirky and gifted crime lab technician Adam Ross on the CBS hit CSI: NY from 2005 to 2013, and portraying the gung-ho U.S. Navy SEAL Sonny Quinn on the military drama series SEAL Team from 2017 to 2024. He has also had notable recurring roles as the sociopathic Danny Crowe in the fifth season of Justified and as the fan-favorite aspiring ghost hunter Ed Zeddmore in Supernatural and its web series spin-off, The Ghostfacers, which he also helped create, write, and direct. Buckley's film credits include voice acting as the T-Rex Nash in the Disney Pixar film The Good Dinosaur (2015) and starring in films like Home Sweet Hell (2015), which he also produced. He is also an entrepreneur, co-founding Paperclip, an innovative line of diaper bags. Buckley is married to Abigail Ochse, and they have three children.
