Aakash Baskaran
Aakash Baskaran is an Indian film producer and director primarily active in the Tamil film industry. He began his cinematic career as an assistant director, working under filmmaker Vignesh Shivan on projects such as Naanum Rowdy Dhaan (2015), Paava Kadhaigal, and Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. In 2024, he founded the production house Dawn Pictures, through which he has backed several high-profile, big-budget films. His production credits include the drama Idli Kadai (2025), directed by and starring Dhanush, and the upcoming period political drama Parasakthi (2026), featuring Sivakarthikeyan and directed by Sudha Kongara. He is also set to make his directorial debut with the film Idhayam Murali, starring Atharvaa. In his personal life, Aakash is the son of Baskaran, the owner of a well-known jewelry business in Salem, and is married to Dharani Ranganathan, the daughter of CavinKare founder C.K. Ranganathan. Professionally, his career saw a period of legal scrutiny in mid-2025 when he was involved in an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding financial matters related to TASMAC. However, he subsequently received legal relief from the Madras High Court, which questioned the agency's actions at his premises.
