Akio Chen (Chinese: 陳慕義; Pinyin: Chén Mùyì), born September 29, 1956, in Taipei, Taiwan, is a highly respected Taiwanese actor and scriptwriter known for his depth and versatility across stage, film, and television. A graduate of the Theater Department at the National Institute of the Arts (now Taipei National University of the Arts), he began his career in renowned theatre companies like the Ping-Fong Acting Troupe before becoming a staple in screen productions. Chen has been recognized with major industry awards, including the Golden Bell Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film in 2006 for Happy Voyage, and, later in his career, the Golden Horse Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2023 for his memorable role as the mentor-like businessman "Old Fox" in the film Old Fox. His extensive filmography includes appearances in significant Taiwanese films such as A Borrowed Life (1994) and Cape No. 7 (2008), and he is part of the cast of the 2025 film Left-Handed Girl.
