Akshay Kumar, born Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia on September 9, 1967, is an Indian actor, producer, and martial artist who works primarily in Bollywood. Known for his versatility, he has appeared in over 100 films spanning various genres, including action, comedy, romance, and social dramas. He began his career in the early 1990s as an action hero, earning the nickname "Khiladi Kumar" after his successful Khiladi film series. He later reinvented himself in the 2000s, gaining immense popularity for his impeccable comic timing in films like Hera Pheri, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.In the last decade, Kumar has shifted his focus to films with strong social messages, such as Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Pad Man, which have been both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. A recipient of numerous awards, including the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Rustom, he was also honored with the Padma Shri, one of India's highest civilian awards, in 2009.
