Born on May 17, 1984, in Puebla, Mexico, he pursued his passion for acting by studying at the Russian Conservatory of Mexico City before moving to the United States to train at the prestigious Meisner Acting Studio in Los Angeles. Edda's breakthrough came with his main role as notorious drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán in the acclaimed Netflix series Narcos: Mexico from 2018 to 2021, a performance he famously researched by attending the actual Guzmán trial. He's also recognized for his television roles as Marco Rodriguez in AMC's Fear the Walking Dead (2016) and as KGB agent Ruben in the FX series Snowfall (2022–2023).
