Alison Brie Schermerhorn (born December 29, 1982) is an American actress, writer, and producer. Born and raised in Hollywood, California, she began her acting career in community theater before graduating from the California Institute of the Arts. Brie also studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Scotland.She gained widespread recognition for her roles as Trudy Campbell in the AMC drama series Mad Men (2007–2015) and as Annie Edison in the NBC/Yahoo! View sitcom Community (2009–2015). Her performance in Community earned her a nomination for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.Brie has also established a successful film career, with notable roles in movies such as Scream 4 (2011), The Five-Year Engagement (2012), The Lego Movie (2014) where she voiced Princess Unikitty, Get Hard (2015), Sleeping with Other People (2015), How to Be Single (2016), The Little Hours (2017), The Post (2017), and Promising Young Woman (2020). She also starred in and co-wrote the film Spin Me Round (2022) with her husband, Dave Franco, whom she married in 2017.More recently, Brie stars alongside Franco in the 2025 supernatural body horror film Together, which they also produced. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to positive reviews. However, the film is currently facing a lawsuit alleging copyright infringement from the producers of the 2023 independent film Better Half, who claim that Together shares significant plot and thematic similarities.
