Aly Mawji is a versatile actor with a diverse background, known for his work in both television and film. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, but has deep roots connecting him to Pakistan, India, East Africa, Canada, and the UK. Raised primarily in Canada, he is fluent in French, a testament to his multicultural upbringing.Mawji's journey into acting began at a young age, overcoming shyness through improv classes at 13. His early career saw him in a lead role in the Fox Television pilot "Changes." Despite initial parental encouragement towards more traditional careers, leading him to pursue Computer Engineering, Mawji eventually followed his passion for acting. He moved to New York City, where he honed his craft in theater productions and later earned an MFA in Acting from CalArts.His television credits include recurring roles and guest appearances in popular series such as HBO's "Silicon Valley," "This Is Us," "9-1-1," "Will & Grace," "Grey's Anatomy," "Castle," "Parks and Recreation," "Rizzoli & Isles," and "Switched at Birth." In "Silicon Valley," he was noted for his portrayal of Naveen Dutt.In film, Mawji has appeared in a variety of roles. His filmography includes "Four Samosas" (2022) as Deep, "Six Feet" (2022) as Tarik, "All My Puny Sorrows" (2022) as Nic, "The Devil Has a Name" (2019) as Mohammed, and "CHiPS" (2017) as Dan.
