She is a citizen of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Tribe, and also has Thai-Chinese heritage through her mother, Angelique, who is a casting director and stunt performer. Her father, David Midthunder, is an actor of Hunkpapa Lakota, Sisseton Dakota, and Sahiyaiyeskabi Assiniboine descent. Growing up in a household immersed in the film industry, Midthunder initially explored other interests, including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, even teaching classes for children.Midthunder began her acting career at a young age, with her first speaking role at nine years old in "Sunshine Cleaning." She gained wider recognition for her regular roles as Kerry Loudermilk in the FX series "Legion" (2017-2019) and Rosa Ortecho in The CW's "Roswell, New Mexico" (2019-2022).
