Amitabh Bhattacharya, born on November 16, 1976, is an Indian lyricist and playback singer. Born into a Bengali family in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, he attended Spring Dale College before graduating from Lucknow University in 1999. He moved to Mumbai with the dream of becoming a singer, but after struggling, he found his calling as a lyricist. His career breakthrough came when he wrote the lyrics for the song "Emosanal Attyachar" from the 2009 film Dev.D. He has since become one of the most sought-after lyricists in the Indian film industry, collaborating with renowned composers such as Pritam, A. R. Rahman, and Amit Trivedi. His work has earned him numerous accolades, including a National Film Award for the song "Agar Zindagi" from the film I Am and multiple Filmfare and IIFA awards. In addition to his lyric writing, he continues to work as a playback singer and has contributed to the 2025 film Maalik as a lyricist and music composer.
