Amrita Rao is an Indian actress who is known for her roles in Hindi films. Born on June 7, 1981, she began her career as a model before making her acting debut in the 2002 film Ab Ke Baras. She gained popularity and critical acclaim with her role in the romantic drama Ishq Vishk (2003) and subsequently starred in hit films such as Main Hoon Na (2004) and Masti (2004). However, she is most widely recognized for her performance in the blockbuster romantic drama Vivah (2006), where her portrayal of a girl-next-door character resonated with audiences and earned her widespread recognition.Despite the immense success and attention she received after Vivah, Rao has revealed in interviews that she felt creatively unfulfilled and emotionally isolated, as she was often offered similar roles or those with conditions she was not comfortable with, such as kissing scenes. She intentionally withdrew from the industry's social scene and became highly selective with her film choices. This led her to a period of professional quietude.
