Amy Landecker is an American actress known for her versatile career spanning theatre, film, and television, with a knack for playing complex, often highly-strung, professional, or wealthy characters. Born Amy Lauren Landecker on September 30, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois, she is the daughter of famed Chicago radio personality John Records Landecker. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied theater, and spent her early career focusing on stage work in Chicago, including productions at the Goodman and Steppenwolf theaters, before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 38 to pursue on-screen roles. Landecker's major career breakthrough came with her starring role as Sarah Pfefferman on the critically acclaimed Amazon comedy-drama series Transparent (2014–2019), a performance that earned her a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. Her notable film work includes supporting roles in the Coen Brothers' A Serious Man (2009), which earned her critical praise, as well as Dan in Real Life (2007), Enough Said (2013), and Doctor Strange (2016).
