Anabel Graetz
Anabel Graetz (born March 19, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American character actress, singer, and voice teacher celebrated for her late-blooming screen career and multifaceted work in theatre and music. A Boston University BFA graduate, she spent decades performing in regional theater, founding and directing women’s singing ensembles like Laduvane and Light & Song, Inc., and teaching voice—especially to non-singers. At age 62 she began appearing on screen, landing roles in projects like HBO’s Olive Kitteridge and Hulu’s Difficult People. Her breakthrough came at 77 with the role of Phyllis in the 2021 blockbuster Free Guy alongside Ryan Reynolds, allowing her to pay off longstanding debts and gain Hollywood recognition. Since then she’s continued to work steadily, appearing in The Greatest Beer Run Ever, Good Burger 2, Island Zero, and numerous short films and commercials. Known for her salt‑and‑pepper hair, warm presence, and versatile soprano-alto voice, she remains active both on screen and behind the scenes as a coach, performer, and director in New England.
