Andreas Pietschmann is a distinguished German actor known for his work across film, television, and theatre, gaining significant international recognition later in his career. Born on March 22, 1969, in Würzburg, West Germany, he initially aspired to be a professional football player but shifted his focus to acting after an accident. He studied at the renowned Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich.Pietschmann has had a prolific career in German-language productions, appearing in numerous films and TV series. Internationally, he is best known for his role as The Stranger/Jonas Kahnwald (older) in the critically acclaimed Netflix science fiction series Dark (2017–2020), which brought him global recognition. Following this, he starred as Eyk Larsen, the ship captain, in the ambitious Netflix horror-mystery series 1899 (2022). His performance in both shows highlighted his ability to portray complex, stoic, and enigmatic characters.Beyond television, he has appeared in films such as Belle & Sebastian (2013) and Polizeiruf 110.
