Anjelica Huston

Anjelica Huston is an acclaimed American actress, director, and former model, born on July 8, 1951, in Santa Monica, California, into a prominent cinematic family. She is the daughter of celebrated director John Huston and granddaughter of actor Walter Huston. Much of her childhood was spent in Ireland and England. She reluctantly made her film debut in her father's "A Walk with Love and Death" (1969), but her early acting career did not immediately flourish. She subsequently moved to New York City and pursued a successful modeling career throughout the 1970s.In the early 1980s, Huston decided to actively pursue acting, and her breakthrough came with her performance as a mobster's moll in "Prizzi's Honor" (1985), directed by her father. This role earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, making her the third generation of her family to win an Oscar. She gained further critical recognition for her roles in films like "Crimes and Misdemeanors" (1989), "Enemies, A Love Story" (1989), "The Grifters" (1990) – for which she received another Oscar nomination – and her iconic portrayal of the Grand High Witch in "The Witches" (1990) and Morticia Addams in "The Addams Family" (1991) and "Addams Family Values" (1993). Huston has also directed films such as "Bastard Out of Carolina" (1996) and "Agnes Browne" (1999), and is known for her collaborations with director Wes Anderson, appearing in "The Royal Tenenbaums" (2001), "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" (2004), and "The Darjeeling Limited" (2007). In addition to her extensive film work, she has had notable television roles, including in "Lonesome Dove" and "Smash." Huston has also been recognized for her activism, particularly in animal rights, and was named PETA's 2012 Person of the Year for her efforts against the fur and horse-drawn carriage industries and the use of great apes in entertainment. She recently revealed that she privately battled cancer after the release of "John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum" (2019) and has since recovered.
