Anna Chlumsky is an American actress born on December 3, 1980, in Chicago, Illinois. She began her acting career as a child, gaining widespread recognition for her breakout role as Vada Sultenfuss in the 1991 film "My Girl," starring alongside Macaulay Culkin and Dan Aykroyd. She reprised her role in the 1994 sequel, "My Girl 2." Other early film credits include "Uncle Buck" (1989) and "Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain" (1995). After a period of intense child stardom, Chlumsky took a hiatus from acting in 1999 to attend the University of Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies in 2002.Following her college graduation, she initially worked in publishing before rediscovering her passion for acting. She formally trained at the Atlantic Acting School in Manhattan and made a successful return to the screen in the mid-2000s, building a diverse portfolio of roles. She gained significant acclaim for her portrayal of Amy Brookheimer, the chief of staff to the Vice President, in the HBO political satire series "Veep" (2012–2019), for which she received multiple Emmy nominations. Her film and television work since her return includes "In the Loop" (2009), "The Good Guy" (2009), "Hannibal," "Halt and Catch Fire," "The End of the Tour" (2015), "Inventing Anna" (2022), and "They/Them" (2022). She is also slated to appear in the upcoming 2025 film "Bride Hard."
