Anna Crilly
Anna Crilly is a prominent English actress and comedian, born on November 28, 1975, in Tonbridge, Kent. She began her career in the early 2000s after studying performing arts at Middlesex University, quickly making a name for herself on the comedy circuit as a finalist in the 2003 So You Think You’re Funny competition. She is perhaps best known for her deadpan portrayal of Magda, the Eastern European housekeeper, in the BBC sitcom Lead Balloon (2006–2011), a role that earned her a British Comedy Award nomination for Best Female Newcomer in 2008. Beyond her solo work, Crilly is one half of a celebrated comedy duo with Katy Wix; the pair performed several successful shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and starred in their own Channel 4 sketch series, Anna & Katy, in 2013. Her extensive television career includes a wide range of roles in series such as the children's comedy Sorry, I’ve Got No Head, Beyond Paradise, and the final season of the hit series Ghosts (2023). In addition to her comedic roles, she has appeared in acclaimed dramas like The Sixth Commandment. Looking ahead to 2026, she is cast in the action-thriller film Shelter, starring alongside Jason Statham. Crilly is married to fellow comedian William Andrews and continues to be a versatile fixture in British television and film.
