He gained widespread recognition for his role as Cullen Bohannon in the AMC series Hell on Wheels (2011–2016), where he portrayed a former Confederate soldier turned railroad worker. Mount's most recent notable role is as Captain Christopher Pike in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022–present), a part he also played in Star Trek: Discovery (2018). In film, he has appeared in a range of roles, including Crossroads (2002), Visions (2015), and The Virtuoso (2021).
