Anthony Ramos

Anthony Ramos is an American actor and singer of Puerto Rican descent, born Anthony Paul Ramos Martinez on November 1, 1991, in Brooklyn, New York. Growing up in the Bushwick neighborhood, his initial passion was baseball, which he planned to pursue through college, but a shift in focus during high school led him toward the performing arts. He received a full scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, graduating from its musical theater program in 2011. Ramos achieved his breakthrough in 2015 when he originated the dual roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the hit Broadway musical Hamilton, a performance that earned him a Grammy Award and an Emmy nomination for the 2020 stage recording. Transitioning to film, he gained recognition with a supporting role in A Star Is Born (2018) and, most notably, starring as Usnavi de la Vega in the film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's In the Heights (2021), for which he received a Golden Globe nomination. His career has continued to thrive with lead roles in major films like the action movie Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023) and the disaster film Twisters (2024), and he is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming series Ironheart. In addition to his acting, Ramos is a recording artist, having released solo albums such as The Good & The Bad (2019) and Love and Lies (2021).
