Ariadna Gutiérrez Arévalo is a Colombian model, actress, and beauty pageant titleholder, most widely known for the controversial conclusion of the Miss Universe 2015 pageant.Born on December 25, 1993, in Sincelejo, Sucre, Colombia, Gutiérrez was raised in Barranquilla. Her career in modeling began at a young age, and she quickly gained recognition in the industry. She first rose to national prominence when she was crowned Señorita Colombia 2014, representing the department of Sucre, a historic win as she was the first representative from Sucre to achieve this title.Her international recognition soared during the Miss Universe 2015 pageant. In a highly publicized and unprecedented gaffe by host Steve Harvey, Gutiérrez was mistakenly announced as the winner, and was crowned and celebrated for several minutes. However, Harvey soon corrected his error, revealing that the true winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach.
