Asim Chaudhry

Asim Chaudhry is a British comedian, writer, director, rapper, and actor, born on November 24, 1986, in Hounslow, London. He is most widely recognized as the co-creator and star of the BBC mockumentary series People Just Do Nothing (2014–2018), in which he plays the character Chabud "Chabuddy G" Gul, a well-meaning but unsuccessful entrepreneur and manager of the fictional pirate radio station Kurupt FM. Chaudhry co-created the series with friends he met during a media studies course at college—Hugo Chegwin, Steve Stamp, and Allan Mustafa—after they developed the concept through a series of YouTube mockumentary videos. His performance as Chabuddy G earned him a Royal Television Society Award for Best Comedy Performance in 2017 and two nominations for the British Academy Television Award for Best Male Comedy Performance. He reprised the role for the 2021 film continuation, People Just Do Nothing: Big in Japan. Beyond his most famous character, Chaudhry has a prolific acting career, appearing in the Emmy-winning mockumentary Hoff the Record (2015–2016) as Terry Patel, starring in the 2018 television film Click & Collect alongside Stephen Merchant, and featuring in major films such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018), Wonder Woman 1984 (2020), The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023) as the voice of Teefs, and Barbie (2023). He was also a contestant in series six of the panel show Taskmaster. Chaudhry has also written and directed the short film Love Pool and authored the book How to Be a Man under the Chabuddy G persona.
