Atharvaa Murali

Atharvaa Murali (born May 7, 1989) is an award-winning Indian actor and producer primarily known for his work in Tamil cinema. Born in Chennai, he is the son of the legendary late actor Murali and the grandson of prominent Kannada director S. Siddalingaiah. Atharvaa made his acting debut in the romantic drama Baana Kaathadi (2010), but it was his transformative performance as Raasa in Bala’s period film Paradesi (2013) that brought him national acclaim and the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Tamil. Over the years, he has established himself as a versatile lead capable of handling intense drama (Eetti, Kuruthi Aattam), thrillers (Imaikkaa Nodigal, Kanithan), and romantic comedies (Gemini Ganeshanum Suruli Raajanum). In 2016, he launched his own production house, Kickass Entertainment, to back unique scripts. As of late 2025, Atharvaa is entering a peak phase of his career with several high-profile projects slated for 2026. He plays a pivotal lead role in Sudha Kongara’s massive period political drama Parasakthi (2026), replacing the role originally intended for Dulquer Salmaan. Simultaneously, he is starring in the ambitious romantic drama Idhayam Murali (2026), directed by Aakash Baskaran. The film’s title is a direct tribute to his father’s 1991 classic Idhayam and is reported to be the most expensive film of Atharvaa’s career, featuring a Valentine’s Day 2026 release. With other projects like DNA and Thanal also in his lineup, Atharvaa continues to balance commercial appeal with performance-oriented roles, maintaining the legacy of his father while carving his own distinct path in the industry.
