Austin Amelio is an American actor and former professional skateboarder, born on April 27, 1988, in Austin, Texas. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Dwight in AMC's The Walking Dead and its spin-off Fear the Walking Dead. Amelio's career began in the early 2010s with roles in short films, eventually leading to his breakout role as Dwight, a former member of the Saviors who becomes a complex and evolving character in the series. His performance was noted for adding depth and nuance to the character, making him a fan favorite. In addition to his television work, Amelio appeared in Richard Linklater's 2016 film Everybody Wants Some!!, where he played the character Nesbit. The film, a spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, received critical acclaim for its ensemble cast and nostalgic portrayal of college life. Before pursuing acting, Amelio was an avid skateboarder.
