Baburaj Jacob, professionally known as Baburaj, is an Indian actor, director, and screenwriter who primarily works in Malayalam cinema, and has also appeared in Tamil and Hindi films. Born on March 5, 1970, in Aluva, Kerala, he was a practicing advocate for seven years before entering the film industry. He began his acting career in the 1994 Malayalam film Bheesmacharya, where he established himself in antagonistic roles. His career saw a major shift in 2011 with the success of the film Salt N' Pepper, where he played a comedic role, which led to him becoming one of the most sought-after character and comedy actors in Malayalam cinema. He has since been praised for his versatility, with critically acclaimed performances in films like Joji (2021). Beyond acting, Baburaj has also directed films such as Black Dalia (2009) and Manushyamrugam (2011). He is married to South Indian actress Vani Viswanath, and they have two children. He also has two sons from a previous marriage.
