Born in Nashville, Tennessee, she is of biracial descent with a Belarusian mother and an African father. She began her career at the age of five, appearing in commercials and later in films such as A Little Bit of Heaven (2011) and Moon and Sun (2014).She is best known for her role as Tsireya, a free diver from the Metkayina clan, in James Cameron's blockbuster sequel Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). She is set to reprise this role in the upcoming sequels, including Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). Her performance as Tsireya was a key part of the film's success, and she has spoken about her rigorous motion capture and freediving training for the role.In television, Bass gained significant attention for her portrayal of the teenage vampire Claudia in the first season of the AMC series Interview with the Vampire (2022).
