Bechir Sylvain (born September 16, 1981, in Boston, MA) is a Haitian-American actor, writer, director, and producer. Raised in Haiti until age 13 before immigrating to the U.S., he initially aspired to study law but switched paths after high school, earning a drama scholarship to Southern Methodist University . A lifetime member of The Actors Studio, Sylvain has built a diverse career across theater, television, and film. On stage, he’s performed with companies like Arizona Theater Company and Gablestage, winning a Best Ensemble NAACP Theater Award for portraying Malcolm X in The Meeting, as well as an Obie Award for his lead role in The Royale. His TV credits exceed thirty, including recurring or guest roles on BMF (as “Glock”), Diarra from Detroit (as “Roman”), Claws (as “AJ”/“EJ”), and appearances in Black Summer, SWAT, This Is Us, Better Call Saul, Chicago P.D., Black‑ish, and Fuller House . He’s also featured in films like A Haitian Wedding, Hallmark’s The Ultimate Life, Holiday Hideaway, and Life After Beth . Fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, he has won ABC’s Make Me a Star showcase and a Best Actor award at the American Black Film Festival. Recently, Sylvain joined the cast of 2025’s Jurassic World: Rebirth in the role of Leclerc, expanding his profile into blockbuster cinema.
