Beena Banerjee

Beena Banerjee is an esteemed Indian actress renowned for her extensive contributions to both Hindi and Bengali cinema and television. Born Beena Batabyal on February 19, 1943, in Kolkata, she is the daughter of the late actor Pradeep Kumar. She made her acting debut in 1977 with the Hindi film Doosra Aadmi and has since appeared in over 200 films and television shows. Her notable film roles include appearances in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1980), Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), Khuda Gawah (1993), and Bewafa Sanam (1995). In television, Beena Banerjee gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Gunwanti Umed Singh Bundela in the popular series Uttaran (2009–2013). She has also featured in other notable shows such as Parivartan (1990), Ankahee (1999), Saahil (2000), Katha Sagar (2001), and Tere Sheher Mein (2015) . In 2023, she appeared in The Trial and Pashminna - Dhaage Mohabbat Ke, and currently portrays Sushma Kashyap in the ongoing series Parineetii . Beena Banerjee was married to Ajoy Biswas, a film actor and director, with whom she has a son, Siddharth Banerjee, who has worked as an assistant director on films such as Housefull 2 (2012) and Himmatwala (2013) .
