Ben Fordesman
Ben Fordesman, BSC, is a prominent Director of Photography known for his work in feature films, television, and high-profile commercials and music videos, and he is of half-Dutch, Essex-raised heritage. His career began in the lighting department, following an education in City & Guilds Electrical Installation and film production. He worked for years on features and TV dramas, progressing from roles like trainee spark, electrician, and gaffer on productions such as The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus. Fordesman transitioned to Director of Photography, becoming a go-to DoP in British music videos since 2012 before moving into narrative work. He is particularly recognized for his collaborations with director Rose Glass on her feature films: the psychological horror Saint Maud (2019), which earned him his first British Independent Film Award (BIFA) for Best Cinematography in 2020, and the neo-noir thriller Love Lies Bleeding (2024), for which he won his second BIFA in the same category. Other notable credits include the TV series The End of the F***ing World and feature films such as Out of Darkness (2022), Name Me Lawand (2022), and the upcoming projects The Thing with Feathers (2025) and Anemone (2025).
