Billy Zane is an American actor and producer, best known for his role as the wealthy and arrogant Caledon 'Cal' Hockley in James Cameron's 1997 blockbuster Titanic. Born on February 24, 1966, in Chicago, Illinois, Zane comes from a family of Greek descent and began his acting career in the mid-1980s. He gained early recognition with roles in films like Back to the Future (1985) and Dead Calm (1989), the latter of which earned him a nomination for the Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Most Promising Actor. Following his success in Titanic, Zane appeared in a variety of films, including The Phantom (1996), The Believer (2001), and The Kill Hole (2012). He also voiced the character Ansem in the Kingdom Hearts video game series. In 2024, Zane portrayed Marlon Brando in the biopic Waltz.. Beyond acting, Zane is an abstract expressionist painter and has had several solo and group exhibitions. He is also a principal at RadioactiveGiant, a film and television production and distribution company. Zane has been engaged to model Candice Neil since 2010, and they have two daughters together. Despite being typecast after his role in Titanic, Zane has embraced his status and continues to pursue diverse roles in film and television.
