Boris Isaković is a distinguished Serbian actor and educator, widely regarded as one of the most prominent figures in Balkan cinema and theater. Born on December 14, 1966, in Novi Sad, Serbia (then Yugoslavia), he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad in 1992 under the mentorship of Professor Bora Drašković. Isaković has spent decades as a cornerstone of the Serbian National Theatre and the Yugoslav Drama Theater, earning the prestigious Dobričin Prsten in 2022, a lifetime achievement award that is the highest honor for a theater actor in Serbia. Known for his ability to disappear into complex, often morally ambiguous characters, he also serves as a Professor of Acting at his alma mater, shaping the next generation of regional talent. Internationally, Isaković is perhaps most acclaimed for his chilling and transformative portrayal of General Ratko Mladić in the 2020 Academy Award-nominated film Quo Vadis, Aida?. His performance was lauded by critics for its "reptilian contempt" and terrifyingly accurate mannerisms, helping the film secure a win for Best Film at the European Film Awards. Global audiences also recognize him from the 2019 festive hit Last Christmas, in which he played Ivan Andrich, the father of Emilia Clarke’s character. This role showcased his range, allowing him to pivot from the heavy, historical drama of his Balkan projects to a more grounded, paternal role in a major Hollywood production. His extensive filmography includes award-winning roles in films such as Men Don't Cry (2017), Circles (2013), and White White World (2010). On television, he delivered a powerful performance as Slobodan Milošević in the mini-series The Family (Porodica, 2021), further cementing his reputation for portraying significant historical figures with psychological depth. As of late 2025, Isaković continues to be a dominant force on the stage; he recently won the Grand Prix for Leading Male Role at the International Actor's Festival in Nikšić for his performance in the play Atonement. He remains married to fellow Serbian acting powerhouse Jasna Đuričić, with whom he has frequently collaborated.
