Brad Bird
Philip Bradley "Brad" Bird (born September 24, 1957) is an American filmmaker, animator, and voice actor celebrated for his impactful contributions to both animation and live-action cinema. His fascination with animation began at a young age, leading him to create his first short film by 14 and eventually to be mentored by Milt Kahl, one of Disney's legendary "Nine Old Men." After attending the California Institute of the Arts, Bird started his career at Disney before becoming a key figure in animated television, notably serving as an executive consultant for the first eight seasons of The Simpsons, where he significantly influenced the show's animation style.Bird's directorial debut, The Iron Giant (1999), though not a box office success initially, earned critical acclaim and became a modern animated classic. He then joined Pixar, where he directed two of their most beloved and critically successful films: The Incredibles (2004) and Ratatouille (2007), both of which won Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature. He also famously provided the voice for the iconic character Edna Mode in The Incredibles. Bird's talents extend to live-action, as demonstrated by his critically and commercially successful directorial effort Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011). He later returned to the world of superheroes with Incredibles 2 (2018), which was also a massive success. Throughout his career, Bird has been lauded for his strong storytelling, fluid visual style, and ability to blend humor, action, and heart.
