Brian Tee, born Jae-Beom Takata on March 15, 1977, in Okinawa, Japan, is an American actor of Japanese-American and Korean descent. He moved to California at the age of two and was raised in Hacienda Heights, later graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in theater and performing arts. He adopted the stage name Brian Tee early in his career to navigate the entertainment industry.Tee is best known for his long-running role as Dr. Ethan Choi in the NBC medical drama series "Chicago Med," which he starred in for the first eight seasons (2015–2022) and appeared as a guest on its spin-offs, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. His breakout movie role was as the main antagonist Takashi, a.k.a. "D.K." (Drift King), in the 2006 film "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift." Other major film roles include Noburo Mori in "The Wolverine" (2013), Hamada in "Jurassic World" (2015), and the iconic villain Shredder in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" (2016).His extensive career in television includes starring roles in the series Crash and recurring appearances on shows like Zoey 101, Grey's Anatomy, Grimm, and the Amazon Prime Video series "Expats" (2023–2024).
