However, during law school, he took a sabbatical to explore acting opportunities in Hong Kong, leading to his eventual decision to pursue a full-time acting career after passing the California bar exam.Mann's career officially began in the early 1990s, with his breakthrough role coming as Ryu in the 1994 film adaptation of "Street Fighter." This role showcased his martial arts skills, which he had honed as a top-ranked tennis player in Hong Kong and as a wushu practitioner. He went on to appear in numerous notable films, including "Red Corner" (1997), "The Corruptor" (1999), Ridley Scott's "Black Hawk Down" (2001), "Catwoman" (2004), "The Man with the Iron Fists" (2012), and "The Big Short" (2015), where his performance as Wing Chau was particularly well-received.On television, Mann has been a consistent presence, with significant roles in series such as "Dark Angel," "Hell on Wheels" (as the powerful railroad mercenary Chang), "The Expanse" (as Admiral Augusto Nguyen), and "Altered Carbon" (as O.G. Kovacs). He also gained a large fanbase for his recurring role as Yao Fei on The CW's "Arrow" and as Uncle Six in the Netflix series "Wu Assassins."
