Calahan Skogman
Calahan Skogman is an American actor, writer, and former collegiate athlete, best known for his role as Matthias Helvar in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone. Born on May 12, 1993, in Davenport, Iowa, he moved to Seymour, Wisconsin, as a child. A multi-talented individual, Skogman was a standout athlete in high school, playing both basketball and football and initially pursuing a career in sports. He played basketball and football at the University of Minnesota Duluth and later transferred to the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where he began to study theater and broadcasting.After discovering a passion for acting, he changed his major to Theater Performance, graduating in 2015. He went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the USC School of Dramatic Arts in 2019. Skogman's breakout role came in 2021 when he was cast as Matthias Helvar in the Netflix fantasy series Shadow and Bone, a character he portrayed for two seasons. In addition to his acting work, Skogman is a writer and published his debut novel, Blue Graffiti, in 2024. He is also set to appear in the upcoming film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.
