Campbell Scott is an American actor, director, and producer, born on July 19, 1961, in New York City. He is the son of renowned actors George C. Scott and Colleen Dewhurst. Scott graduated from Lawrence University in 1983 and began his acting career with a role in Five Corners (1987). He gained recognition for his performance in Longtime Companion (1990), a film about the early years of the AIDS epidemic. His other notable film roles include Singles (1992), Dying Young (1991), and Roger Dodger (2002), for which he received the National Board of Review Award for Best Supporting Actor. In addition to his film work, Scott has had a successful television career, with roles in House of Cards, Damages, and The American Experience.
