Cassi Davis

Cassi Davis‑Patton (born July 31, 1964, in Holly Springs, Mississippi) is a prolific American actress celebrated for her comedic warmth and spiritual depth. After studying music at Spelman College—pausing just shy of graduation due to curricular restrictions on religious performance, but returning to complete her degree in 2008—Davis launched into screen work with a debut in Spike Lee’s School Daze (1988). Her early TV roles included guest appearances on Living Single, Married… with Children, Kenan & Kel, and the claymation The PJs. Davis rose to prominence through her long-standing collaboration with Tyler Perry, first on stage and soon on screen. She took on roles in Madea’s Family Reunion, Daddy’s Little Girls, Madea’s Big Happy Family, Boo! A Madea Halloween, and A Madea Family Funeral, among others. She became a household name portraying Aunt Bam in the Madea films since 2010, and won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Ella Payne on Tyler Perry’s House of Payne from 2007 to 2012. A devout born‑again Christian, Davis credits her faith for guiding her career. In her personal life, she married Kerry Patton in 2017 and has largely avoided social media, which led to false rumors of her passing—claims Tyler Perry himself debunked. Now in her sixties, Cassi Davis remains an enduring, beloved fixture in Tyler Perry’s universe and family-focused entertainment.
