Catherine Dent is an American actress, born on April 14, 1965, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. After graduating from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1993, she began her career with a small role in the film Nobody's Fool (1994), starring Paul Newman, and had a recurring role on the soap opera One Life to Live. Her breakthrough and most recognized role came in 2002 as Sergeant Danielle "Danny" Sofer on the critically acclaimed FX crime drama series, The Shield, where she remained a main cast member for the show's entire seven-season run. Dent has maintained a prolific career in both film and television, with notable film appearances in The Majestic (2001), Auto Focus (2002), and the Oscar-nominated 21 Grams (2003). In television, she is known for various guest and recurring roles across major shows, including the Steven Spielberg miniseries Taken, and later, as General Hale in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2017–2018), and recurring roles on series like The Mentalist and NCIS.
