Chad L. Coleman (born September 6, 1967, in Richmond, Virginia) is an American actor widely recognized for his prominent roles across television and film. After a childhood spent living with foster parents and later being raised by his grandmother in Richmond, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University briefly before leaving to serve in the United States Army as a video cameraman from 1985 to 1989. Coleman's breakthrough role came as the former criminal Dennis "Cutty" Wise on the acclaimed HBO series The Wire (2004–2008), followed by the beloved survivor Tyreese Williams on the AMC series The Walking Dead (2012–2015). His notable filmography also includes starring as Fred Johnson on the sci-fi series The Expanse (2015–2020), Klyden on the series The Orville, and the main antagonist Bruno Mannheim on Superman & Lois (2023–2024). Additionally, he provided the voice for the character Coach in the video game Left 4 Dead 2 (2009). He also appeared in the 2009 Broadway revival of August Wilson's Joe Turner's Come and Gone. Coleman's personal life includes having been married to actress Sally Stewart from 1999 to 2010, with whom he has two children. He is also part of the cast of the upcoming 2025 biographical sports drama film Christy, where he portrays the prolific boxing promoter Don King.
