Chanell Bell
Chanell Bell is an American storyteller and humanitarian, born in Portsmouth, Virginia. Her performing arts journey began at age nine with her stage debut. She pursued higher education, earning a BFA in acting from Howard University and later a Master's in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul. Bell has an extensive background in theater, with notable performances in productions such as Fireflies (Northlight), She The People (Second City), and Crumbs from the Table of Joy (Raven). She also received the BTAA Ethel Waters Award for her role in Fireflies and the Phylicia Rashad 'Most Promising Actress' award for Moon Man Walk. On television, Chanell Bell has appeared in Chicago MED (NBC) and Netflix's Easy, and can currently be seen as Dr. Lauryn Williams in POWER Book: IV on the STARZ network. Beyond her acting career, Bell is dedicated to nurturing young artists and has taught creatives globally. In 2021, she established the first drama program at Nautilus School, a Black-owned private school in Chicago, focusing her efforts on Black communities where she believes access and visibility are crucial. She identifies as a professional actor, director, and filmmaker, and is independently producing a film series called "Test Pilot."
