Chloë Sevigny

Chloë Sevigny is an American actress, director, and fashion icon renowned for her distinctive style and diverse roles in independent cinema. Born on November 18, 1974, in Springfield, Massachusetts, she rose to prominence in the 1990s after being discovered by filmmaker Harmony Korine and cast in the controversial film Kids (1995). Sevigny's portrayal of a teenager grappling with HIV in the film garnered critical attention and marked the beginning of her unconventional career. Throughout the 2000s, Sevigny appeared in supporting roles in several independent films, including American Psycho (2000), Demonlover (2002), Party Monster and Dogville (both 2003), and The Brown Bunny (2004). Her participation in the latter caused considerable controversy due to a scene in which she performed graphic unsimulated fellatio. From 2006 to 2011, she portrayed Nicolette Grant on the HBO series Big Love, earning a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2010. She also appeared in mainstream films such as David Fincher's Zodiac (2007), and starred in numerous television projects, including the British series Hit & Miss (2012), and had supporting roles in Portlandia (2013), two seasons of American Horror Story, and in the Netflix series Bloodline (2015–2017) and Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story (2024) . Sevigny made her directorial debut in 2016 with the short film Kitty. Her third film as a director, a short titled White Echo, competed for the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. She also has a career in fashion design concurrent with her acting work. Over the years, her alternative fashion sense has earned her a reputation as a style icon. In her personal life, Sevigny married Croatian art gallery director Siniša Mačković in 2020, and they have a son named Vanja, born in May 2020 . She is known for her hands-on parenting style and continues to balance her family life with her professional endeavors. Sevigny's recent work includes her role as Lynn Roy in the Hulu miniseries The Girl from Plainville (2022), where she portrayed the mother of Conrad Roy, a teenager whose death led to a high-profile legal case. She also stars in the 2024 film Bonjour Tristesse, directed by Durga Chew-Bose, and the 2025 absurdist comedy Magic Farm, directed by Amalia Ulman .
