Choi Woo-shik
Choi Woo-shik is a prominent South Korean-Canadian actor, born on March 26, 1990, in Seoul, South Korea. At the age of ten, he immigrated with his family to Vancouver, Canada, where he spent his formative years and acquired his English name, Edward Choi (often nicknamed Eddie). In 2011, while attending Simon Fraser University, he returned to Korea to pursue an acting career, making his debut in the period drama "The Duo." He furthered his education at Chung-Ang University, majoring in cultural studies, to reconnect with his Korean heritage.Choi Woo-shik gained initial recognition for his leading role in the independent film "Set Me Free" (2014), which earned him the Actor of the Year award at the Busan International Film Festival. He rose to international prominence with his roles in two critically and commercially successful films: the zombie thriller "Train to Busan" (2016), where he played the high school baseball player Yong-guk, and the Palme d'Or and Academy Award-winning black comedy "Parasite" (2019), directed by Bong Joon-ho, in which he portrayed Kim Ki-woo. His versatility is evident in his diverse filmography, which also includes the action-horror film "The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion" (2018) where he played a chilling villain, and the romantic comedy series "Our Beloved Summer" (2021-2022).
