Christian De Sica

Christian De Sica is an Italian actor, comedian, film director, writer, producer, and television presenter, born in Rome on January 5, 1951. He is the second son of the revered Neorealist director and actor Vittorio De Sica and Spanish actress María Mercader. De Sica began his career as a singer and dancer, participating in the Sanremo Festival in 1973 before dedicating himself fully to acting, with early film roles mentored by figures like Roberto Rossellini and his father. He achieved widespread fame in the 1980s, notably through films like Borotalco (1982), which also starred his brother-in-law, Carlo Verdone, and Sapore di Mare (1983). De Sica is most famous for becoming the undisputed star of the wildly successful "cine-panettone" comedies—a genre of farcical Christmas-themed films—often in a popular partnership with actor Massimo Boldi until 2005. His prolific career includes directing several films, such as Men Men Men (1995) and Il Conte Max (1991), and acting in over 90 films, including the international thriller The Tourist (2010). He is married to Silvia Verdone and has two children. He has been recognized with multiple accolades, including three David di Donatello awards.
