Chukwudi Iwuji

Chukwudi Iwuji (born October 15, 1975) is a highly accomplished Nigerian-British actor known for his commanding presence on both the classical stage and in major Hollywood franchises. Born in Nigeria to diplomat parents, he moved to Ethiopia and then to England for boarding school, before attending Yale University to study economics and later pursuing his theatrical training in the US. For years, he was a celebrated classical actor and an Associate Artist of the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), earning critical acclaim for lead roles such as the title character in the Henry VI trilogy and Othello in Shakespeare in the Park. Iwuji made a significant leap to mainstream American screen roles in the 2020s, often collaborating with director James Gunn, who cast him as the mysterious operative Clemson Murn in the HBO Max series Peacemaker (2022). This led to his most widely known role as the fanatical villain, the High Evolutionary, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023). His television work also includes acclaimed roles in When They See Us, The Underground Railroad, and the BBC series The Split.
