Colin McFarlane
Colin McFarlane is a British actor, narrator, and voice artist, born on September 15, 1961, in Upper Clapton, London. He is renowned for his roles in both live-action and animated productions. In Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy, he portrayed Commissioner Gillian B. Loeb. His television credits include the STARZ series Outlander (2018–2020), where he played Ulysses, and various appearances in Doctor Who, Death in Paradise, and Holby City . McFarlane's voice work is extensive, encompassing characters in children's programming such as JJ in Bob the Builder, Bulgy and Beresford in Thomas & Friends, and PC Malcolm Williams in Fireman Sam. He also served as the voice of the ITV game show The Cube from 2009 to 2021 . Born to Jamaican parents, McFarlane grew up in Lincoln after his family relocated from London. He attended The Perse School in Cambridge and later studied drama at Loughborough University, graduating in 1983 . In his personal life, McFarlane married Kate McFarlane on July 12, 1993, and they have one child. He divides his time between homes in Lincoln and North London. In June 2023, McFarlane announced he had been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer, which does not currently require treatment. He emphasized the importance of regular screening, particularly for Black men over 45, who are at higher risk.
