Courteney Cox is an American actress, producer, and director, best known for her iconic role as Monica Geller on the hit television series Friends (1994–2004). Born on June 15, 1964, in Birmingham, Alabama, she began her career as a model before transitioning into acting. Her breakthrough came with the music video for Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark," which led to television roles, including a notable part on Family Ties .
