Craig Gallivan is a Welsh actor and singer renowned for his dynamic performances in both television and musical theatre. Born on February 9, 1984, in Swansea, Wales, Gallivan initially pursued rugby, representing Swansea and later West Wales at the age of 12. His path to acting began unexpectedly when he joined his sister on an audition for Oliver! at the London Palladium. Offered the role of Charlie Bates, he performed alongside Barry Humphries and Jim Dale, marking his debut in the West End . Gallivan trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2005. His early career included roles in the BBC drama Care (2000) and the ITV series Footballers' Wives (2006). He also performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre in 2008. In musical theatre, Gallivan has portrayed Tony Elliot in Billy Elliot (2010), Dewey Finn in School of Rock (2018–2019), and originated the role of Olaf in Disney's Frozen in the West End from 2021 . His portrayal of Olaf, a character brought to life through puppetry, has been praised for its warmth and humor . Beyond his stage work, Gallivan starred as Luke Morris in the Sky1 comedy-drama Stella (2012–2017), created by Ruth Jones. The show was highly acclaimed and became one of Sky1's most-watched series.
