Her comedy often draws from her experiences growing up as a first-generation Mexican-American in a strict Catholic household in South Texas.Beyond her successful sitcom, Alonzo has made significant strides in the film industry, notably as the first Latina lead in a Disney Pixar film, voicing the character of the spirited trainer Cruz Ramirez in "Cars 3" (2017). She has also lent her voice to other animated projects like "The Angry Birds Movie" and the series "His Dark Materials." In addition to her acting and voice work, Alonzo has released two stand-up specials on Netflix, "Lower Classy" and "Middle Classy," with a third, "Upper Classy," anticipated in 2025.
